After over one month preparation, the establishment ceremony of the Science & Technology Association of Hilong Group of Companies (Hilong STA ) was held significantly in Baoshan Science Commission (BSC) on May 22, 2008. Being the first enterprise STA in Baoshan District of Shanghai City, the establishment of Hilong STA was highly thought of by leaders of Baoshan District and the city government. Such leaders as vice-chairman of Shanghai STA Mr Wang Zhiyong, vice-chairman of Baoshan STA & director of BSC Ms Yang Lihong, deputy director of BSC Zhu Jianhua, director of scientific& technological management section of BSC Mr Chen Xialing attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

Hilong Group of Companies also valued it highly. Over 80 people from Hiong Group, Hilong Research Institute, and its subsidiary companies attended the meeting, including CEO Mr Zhang Jun, General Manager Mr Chen Su, Executive Director Mr Yuan Pengbin, etc. Mr Yuan Pengbin, executive director and the head of Shanghai Hilong Tubular Goods Research Institute, presided over the meeting.

First of all, Mr Yuan introduced briefly all the distinguished leaders and guests arrived. Then, Mr. Zhu Jianhua announced approval document on the establishment of Hilong STA. Mr Zhang Jun, Mr Chen Su, Mr Wang Zhiyong and Mr Yang Lihong held the unveiling ceremony. Mr Zhang Jun, the first chairman of Hilong STA, delivered an inspiring speech. According to him, Hilong Group and its products are playing a more and more important role in the domestic and world markets in oil and gas industry. Although sometimes we would suffer some unfair treat, the advanced science and technology of our products are admitted all around the world. On behalf of the board of directors and himself, he expressed his deep respect to all the Hilong’s staff. “They give up their rest time and make great efforts on the Hilong products’ R&D and development. Every Hilongees wish and are striving to make Hilong Group and its products become world established corporation and reputable brand.” He said. Under the leadership of Hilong STA, he required all the personnel to make efforts on studying and promoting high-tech products constantly, thus shaping Hilong Group and its products into an excellent national brand. After the speech, attendees gave him a big applause. Ms Yang Lihong also demanded that the established Hilong STA should actively serve into new products R&D, s& t innovation, academic exchange, popular science propaganda, and it also should make great contribution to the economic growth of Hilong group, Baoshan district as well as the whole of Shanghai. Mr Wang Zhiyong mainly explained the functional division and working content of Shanghai & national STA system. He entirely approved of establishing Enterprise Association for science & technology , and expressed that they would try their best to support various business activities of Hilong STA .He made a wish as well that Hilong Group will become the lead in the field of petroleum industry and all its staff will have a bright future. At last, Mr Yuan Pengbin showed an active attitude to the establishment and future work of Hilong STA.

After the meeting, BSC invited Mr. Zhong Leyao, former subprefect in Baoshan District, to give a special lecture on scientific and technological innovation for the attendees. He is 86 years old and works in the field of science and technology for many years. With his vivid expression and innovative viewpoint and witty tongue, he received very good effects on the lecture .
